  • Trail description:

Starting from the Ankogelbahn car park, the trail takes you to the Stappitzer See. Half way to the lake, you can turn off right to the Seebach (Seebach river) and marvel at its turquoise water and the fine white sand on the river bed. Surrounded by impressive mountain scenery, Stappitzer See is a beautiful sight. The first stop listed in the nature guide describes the features of the lake and can be found just before the information point on the shore of the lake. Following the information panels and an observation platform, the nature trail takes you across a bridge to the forest. Crossing a mountain pasture and past several river meanders, you will reach the next stops that deal with the formation of the valley. After a short detour on the alluvial fan, from where you will have a good view of the entire valley, you will reach two particularly interesting stops: the praying forest and the ice hole. There close to the pillars and crevices between the rocks, you will feel an icy air flow.

    Special Features:

This nature trail takes you through the home of the Alpine swift and the crag martin, just two species of the rich Seebachtal bird realm. The valley at 1,270 m above sea level is surrounded by breath-taking mountain scenery. It is hard to believe that this natural gem nearly had to make way for a storage power station!
