Nationalpark Hohe Tauern

Geotrail from Heiligenblut

Varied geology with panoramic peaks

Varied like nowhere else, the world of rocks in the Hohe Tauern is presented along the Tauern Window geo trail. A fantastic sea of peaks unfolds in front the eyes of the walkers. The panoramic view stretches from the majestic Grossglockner across more than 100 three-thousand-metre-high peaks in the national park. A variety of different rocks can be found around the geo trail and particularly the karst formations that are fully atypical for the Hohe Tauern region with their characteristic and rolling terrain shaping the landscape. Pronounced dolines, up to 14 m in depth and small caves provide fascinating insights.
