Nationalpark Hohe Tauern

Rauriser
primeval forest

  • This guided ranger tour starts at the Lenzang parking lot at the Rauris head of the valley called Kolm Saigurn. We will first follow the pleasant Almenweg trail no. 31 to the Durchgangalm huts, and then stick to the right, since the entrance to the Rauris Virgin Forest is right below the Gainschngg-Alm. From there, the trail meanders between inscrutable ponds in the bogs and passes giant trees, Swiss pines and romantic clearings. Our ranger helps us discover the peculiarities of the place and tells us all about the local fauna and flora. Ancient narrow spruces and huge rock boulders will make us feel like we were in a green jungle. In the midst of all the beautiful green, we will encounter a small forest museum. The hike then continues through the forest until we reach the Ammererhof inn, from where the road will lead us back to the cars.
