Nationalpark Hohe Tauern

The cultural landscape of the Hohe Tauern National Park

Region Matrei

    •

The Hohe Tauern National Park not only protected the untouched natural landscape, but also the cultural landscape created over centuries. Sustainable forms of management, in harmony with nature, have created an extraordinary variety of habitats for animals and plants. The preservation, maintenance and design of this natural cultural landscape has the same status in the Hohe Tauern National Park as nature conservation.

Not only rustic huts await us on this hike, but also the people who spend the summer months on the alpine pastures are worth a visit. Suitable for children from 10 years of age, medium difficulty tour, endurance, sure-footedness and a head for heights are required.

We pass the following alpine pastures: Obertaxach Alm, Kessler Alm (refreshment stop) and Hoanzer Alm (refreshment stop).
