  • Theme Trail Description:

This theme trail starts at the Gasthof Schütthof in Neukirchen. From there, hikers follow the impressive natural monument Untersulzbach Waterfall to the historic National Park Mine "Hochfeld." Several information panels provide detailed descriptions of the geology of the Hohe Tauern and the development of mining in the Untersulzbach Valley. During the summer months, visitors can join a guided tour of the mine.

    Natural Monument Untersulzbach Waterfall:

Smaller waterfalls in the Hohe Tauern National Park are often overshadowed by the massive Krimml Waterfalls. However, this natural beauty – the Untersulzbachfall at the entrance of the Untersulzbach Valley – proves that it deserves just as much attention. From several viewing platforms, you can enjoy a view into the 80-meter-deep gorge, where the glowing lichen contrasts vividly with the rock walls in bright yellow.

Combine the Geo Trail with a visit to the Hochfeld Mine.
