The fitted GPS receiver records up to 10 positions per day and sends these to the bearded vulture team by SMS. This requires the corresponding mobile phone reception; otherwise, the data is stored and transmitted at a later time. The transmitters carry a small solar cell and are thus not reliant on batteries.

The GPS receiver should provide data for 3–4 years. One position per day is displayed on the map. If you click the location, you will receive information about the date and time of that position.

The coloured lines directly link successive positions. The data is then updated when new data is sent from the transmitters via SMS.
