The exhibition takes you into the world of the national park and the rich Obervellach cultural history. The "Nationalpark-Explorer" – a large interactive map of the area – invites you to discover the beauty and diversity in the region. Using a large magnifying glass, you can view particularly interesting excursion destinations in the Carinthia National Park and will be presented with a short multimedia show of the highlights of each place.
Information bands sweeping across the room also show the landscape and natural history features in the form of magnificent pictures and small dioramas of Obervellach and its surroundings. Interactive stations make the small but mighty exhibition both entertaining and varied.
The rich cultural history of Obervellach can be heard in a second room. With a large, specially staged "time travel microphone", you can access the history and stories of Obervellach. Sound portraits of various eras tell of the ups and downs in the development of this market. They talk of the gold rush in the middle ages, the decline of mining in the Little Ice Age, of the 100-year upswing triggered by an accidental discovery, of inquisitive hikers, internationally renowned art treasures, of famous men, sumpters, and of the Kaiser. Traces of this rich history can still be found throughout the entire town.
