  • Trail description:

The trail starts with a map of the path at the tunnel portal at Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe. Even after just a few steps, you will encounter the first multilingual panels, which start with the telling of the tale about the Pasterze glacier and the mountain names in the area. In the sections between the individual tunnels, visitors can catch a glimpse the path's imposing counterpart, the Grossglockner. The second part of the tunnel system contains fascinating information about gold, water and rock crystal – the treasures of the Alps. Visitors can marvel at the "Water organ" and a series of surprises.

    Special features:

You can explore unique fauna and flora only usually found in Central Asia, Arctic America, Iceland, Spitzbergen and Greenland but here too due to the unusual climatic conditions. This area is under strict protection as a special protection zone in the Hohe Tauern National Park.
