    • After mining operations ceased, a great deal of effort was invested in converting the old mine into an exhibition for visitors. The attraction offers fascinating insights into alpine geology and the history of the national park. The show mine, a rarity in the Hohe Tauern, is made permanently accessible and explained to visitors here. For example, the overthrust construction of the Tauern Window and rock outcrops are clearly illustrated and explained.

      Tours of the Hochfeld Show Mine

      As part of the annual summer program of the National Park Administration, two tours are conducted on weekdays during the Salzburg summer school holidays by National Park rangers.

      Tours for groups of 4 (to 14 people) are available on request from mid-April to mid-December.
      For individual group tours outside of the regular visitor tours, as part of the summer program of the Salzburg National Park Administration, a ranger day fee of € 270 is charged.
