Description:
Framed by the glacier-covered peaks of the Tauern Mountain Range, the panorama in Nassfeld leaves a lasting impression on its visitors. Nassfeld is not untouched nature but rather a cultural landscape shaped by humans for centuries. Remnants of mining ruins and the old Roman road serve as traces of the once-busy trade route over the Mallnitzer Tauern.
The National Park Themed Trail Nassfeld is located at the end of the Gastein Valley (Nassfeld) and begins directly at the information hut of the Hohe Tauern National Park. Here, visitors can find additional information on topics such as geology, the importance of water, wildlife, and alpine flora, all of which are characteristic of the Gastein Nassfeld.
From the parking lot, the trail heads south towards Nassfeldalm and Brandtneralm.
