Description of the Thematic Trail:
The Glacier Educational Trail begins at the base station of the material cableway to Kürsingerhütte, accessible by valley taxi.
From there, the trail leads towards the valley's end through a glacially shaped landscape with moraines and glacier-polished rocks. Informational signs mark the most significant ice levels of the glacier since 1850.
Once covered by hundreds of meters of ice, the barren soil is now colonized by pioneer plants such as saxifrage species. Shortly before reaching Sulzsee, visitors enter the unique Sulzbachtäler Wilderness Area.
The final section of the trail requires navigating a rope-secured path.
On the shore of Obersulzbachsee, hikers are rewarded with a stunning view of the western flank of the 3,658-meter Großvenediger and the Großer Geiger (3,360 m).
